  • HELLO, 2009!

What a whirlwind the past 2 months have been! So much to catch up on..

The holidays were great. It was great having my parents back from the PI after a month stay. Christmas was simple.. lots of time with family. All I could really ask for. It was the first Christmas without having my brother home.. but he did come home the day after Christmas. I went through a little "phase" throughout the holidays. Let's just say I'm in detox now. haha! Running into Tebow at the St. John's Town Center.... highlight! New Year's was filled with lots of friends and family.. along with celebrating Jon and Bel's engagement! It was great to see everyone who came home for the holidays from out of town. Lots of surprises!

2009 thus far.. With day trips to Atlanta and Gainesville.. WOW! A lot can get done in a day. I love how my "30" list is getting shortened! Georgia Aquarium, Martin Luther King, Jr Memorial, CNN Center, Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles, the 1st Chick-fil-A, the SWAMP!, and watching the GATORS win another BCS Championship.. Gosh... Just all in 1 WEEK!

I am so extremely grateful to have such great family and friends... it's really helped me through a tough time.

    TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

    Here's to a great 2009!

  • Happy Advent Season

    ADVENT - (taken from Wikepedia)
(from the Latin word adventus, meaning "coming") is a season of the Christian church, the period of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus; in other words, the period immediately before Christmas. It is the beginning of the Western liturgical year and commences on Advent Sunday.

I went to the Life Teen mass this past Sunday at Christ the King... The Life Teen coordinator at the beginning of mass told everyone to get up and greet everyone a Happy New Year and told us.. Advent is like a new beginning... a new year... and basically.. It is! The priest later on gave a great homily on things we should really think about during Advent... and well... I took a lot of it to heart and it really made me think.. more so than other years.

"What can you do to prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ?"

Well... let's just say.. it's in the works... so to speak.... and I'll continue to pray about it....

To you all.. HAPPY ADVENT SEASON... HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  •  Happy Black Friday!!!

Thanksgiving was different this year.. in a sense bittersweet. It was my first Thanksgiving in 5 years that I didn't have to work... Though, my parents and aunts left for the Philippines yesterday to be at my Papu Ina's funeral. The night before my family and I were looking through old family pictures. I brought all the pictures to our Thanksgiving get together at my sister's yesterday to show my cousins. It was nice looking at old pictures of my family with my Papus and reminiscing about her. We all needed it. Before my parents left we took family pictures to send to the Philippines. (see below).

No Black Friday shopping for me... amazingly.. Just needed to avoid the crowds this year and simply.. just not in the mood! Crazy!!! I usually would love to go SHOPPING!  Instead I slept in.. then went to lunch with some old high school friends. A great mini reunion. Then enjoyed some coffee and a walk in the park with a homie.

I am truly grateful and blessed for my friends and family. Thank you for all your love and prayers.

  • Rufina Abrigo  (August 3, 1909- November 23, 2008)

Please pray for the departed soul of my Lola Ina (my mom's mom)... who passed away this morning in the Philippines.... She lived a very long life to almost 100 years old. May her soul rest in peace. She is survived by 7 of her 9 children, many grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and even great great grandchildren.

My fondest memories were when she and I spent a summer in Virginia Beach when I was about 4 years ago. We stayed with my late Uncle Diog and my Auntie Jovie. I was like the "practice kid" for my Auntie and Uncle at the time I guess because soon after my cousin Jannelle was born. It was during that time that my parents told me that I knew how to speak tagalog because my Lola didn't speak any English. Somehow I lost how to speak it since... but I knew how to communicate with my Lola. I remember our times in my Papu's garden in Norfolk... and then the times when my Lola and I would babysit my cousin Earl when he was a baby.

It's funny how my cousins and I were just talking about all of this 1 week ago when I was up in Virginia for my cousin Jannelle's wedding. I guess it was all timely...

My Lola Ina is now with my Uncle Solomon, Uncle Diog, and of course my Lolo.

    To God be the Glory.

    Thank You.
